John Mayer’s Battle Studies tour made a stop in Southern California for the second time this year ( last stop was a few months back at Staples) at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre earlier in the week. Mayer brought his soulful voice and melodic guitar riffs to the open air venue much to the liking of the capacity crowd.
The setlist contained favorites from not only Battle Studies but also the ever popular Continuum albums.
Chest Fever (Cover Intro) / Bigger Than My Body / No Such Thing / Belief / Voodoo Child / Slow Dancing in a Burning Room / Perfectly Lonely / Vultures / Heartbreak Warfare / Gravity / Who Says / Waiting on the World to Change / Do You Know Me / Half of My Heart / Don’t Stop Believing (Cover) ENCORE: Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right (Cover) / Edge of Desire
Opening the show was Adam Young and his project “Owl City.” Unfortunate for the Minnesota native, this show started a bit early for the tech-heavy, traffic ridden OC, which caused many to only catch glimpses of his set as they made their way to the set. However those in attendance were treated to a solid performance from this synth-pop newcomer.
