Insomniac events put on a night of EDM (Electronic Dance Music) as they brought Knife Party to a sold out Wiltern theater in LA this last weekend. Opening the night was Deco spinning drum and bass as the house was starting to fill up. Next up was Codes, Codes played a very diverse set. Touching on all areas of house music (electro, drum and bass, dub step).

Direct support for Knife Party was Kill The Noise (Jake Stanczak) smashing through an hour set of heavy dub step. Kill The Noise recently collaborated with Korn and Skrillex on Korn’s new album on the track “Narcissistic Cannibal” which was played during the night as well. Along with a dub step favorite “Bass Cannon” by Flux Pavilion. KTN steamrolled the Wiltern for his entire set.

Just after 1am the duo known as Knife Party took the stage, this being their first LA appearance you better believe they brought the filth. Knife Party consists of Gareth McGrillen and Rob Swire, both from the group Pendulum. A drum and bass/rock band from Australia. After 4 hours of opening dj’s the Wiltern was ready to be Knifed! Not holding back at all Knife Party exploded into track after track of house/dub bangers. Early on in the set the duo dropped one of their first remixes “Save the World” by Swedish House Mafia. As the songs plays and the chorus nears Swire turns the volume down to hear the crowd sing “Who’s gonna save the world tonight?… Who’s gonna bring you back to life?..” Wow! Is all i have to say as im sure the duo did as well.

Later on in the set the sound of an iphone was ringing over the monitors… Followed by knocking on a door and a facebook notification… You blocked me on facebook and now you are going to die…BOOM! The highly anticipated track of the night “Internet Friends” finally hit! Bonkers! The whole theater went completely bonkers! Cheers, screams of excitement, and hands in the air is what the night was all about.

Thank you Insomniac and Knife Party for raising the roof in LA tonight.
