rhondas kissWhat could upstage an exciting and high-energy performance of cover songs including Cheap Trick and KISS by your favorite musicians spanning the 1980s, 1990s and today from the rock supergroup comically named the Hellcat Saints? A young, enthusiastic perhaps overzealous female fan that jumped on stage to hug her “crush” Billy Idol and was quickly removed by security. Idol clearly hasn’t missed a beat and still has “it” with his famous menacing, seductive sneer intact performing two of his biggest hits: “Rebel Yell” and “White Wedding” and The Door’s “L.A. Woman.”

Also a surprise guest appearance by Billy Gibbons, ZZ Top vocalist/guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, who performed the ZZ Top classic “La Grange”. Juliette Lewis (Juliette & The Licks) stole a bit of the thunder from the other band members with her riveting, memorable star turn onstage as front woman holding court briefly at Rhonda’s Kiss, an all-star benefit to raise money for cancer patients who can’t afford treatment on November 3 at the El Rey Theater. Lewis performed Ike and Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” and AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” with priceless aplomb and confidence. Lewis had the rapturous sold-out audience eating out of her hands with the dramatic nature and sheer physicality of her performance. Mark Mc Grath (Sugar Ray) gave Lewis a fitting introduction as one of the top great singers along with Mick Jagger and David Lee Roth.

The Hellcat Saints also featured guitarist Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), pop singer-songwriter Kesha, bassist Duff McKagan (Velvet Revolver, Guns N’ Roses), rhythm guitarist Dave Kushner (Velvet Revolver), guitarist Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses), drummer Josh Freese (NIN, Devo, A Perfect Circle), guitarist Billy Morrison (Billy Idol, The Cult), guitarist Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Donovan Leitch and singer-songwriter Jamie Commons. All gave their in-built and devoted audience that has followed them from one “secret” group to another with the show of a lifetime bringing back the traditional rock machismo and swagger to the forefront with no apologies. The musicians were willing and very happy to court attention and cater to it. They often proudly struck poses with their instruments and gave direct eye contact to the regions of fans that held up their phones and cameras to capture the epic balls to the wall moments for posterity.

Helping cancer patients in need, Rhonda’s Kiss is supported by The Marc A. and Rhonda L. Stefanski Foundation, a recognized 501(c)(3).

In 2014, Rhonda Stefanski was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. While she lost her battle, one of the greatest gifts she left was “Rhonda’s Kiss.”

Supported by the Marc A. and Rhonda L. Stefanski Foundation, Rhonda’s Kiss is starting with an event to raise money to help those in the inner city who receive a cancer diagnosis, but may be unable to make ends meet for treatment and support. Funds will be distributed through The Cleveland Clinic’s Community Outreach Program.
