Randy Rhoads Remembered @ The Yost Theater – 01/19/2017Tichy/Sutton Productions, the masterminds behind the 2017 BashFest – a three day all-star event that features A Farewell to Kings – A salute to 4 decades of Rush music, Randy Rhoads Remembered (Tribute to the late Randy Rhoads of Ozzy Osbourne & Quiet Riot) and Bonzo Bash (Tribute to Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham) featuring some of music’s most prolific artists that come together and pay tribute to their heroes for a legendary three days of music and madness.  This monster event coincides with NAMM 2017 which means you never know who will show up . . . Thursday, January 19th had Randy Rhoads Remembered at the beautiful Yost Theater in Downtown Santa Ana.

Brian Tichy is without a doubt one of the most talented musicians out there today and when he puts on and participates in a tribute show, he does not just play the music – he becomes the applicable band playing the drums and guitars with intricate precision to emulate his idols and on this night he did just that along with the other members of the House Band – Dewey Bragg (Kill Devil Hill), Steve Ferlazzo (Avril Lavigne, Soundcheck Live) Keyboards, and Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot/Ozzy) and Phil Soussan (Ozzy/Billy Idol)  sharing bass duties.

Randy Rhoads Remembered @ The Yost Theater – 01/19/2017The house band ripped out some killer Ozzy songs with multiple guest guitarists, a few guest drummers and a short set led by Randy’s brother Kelle with The Kelle Rhoads band. Even Randy’s sister Kathy made an appearance and said a few words honoring her late brother. The night was jam packed with killer guitarists paying respect to Randy Rhoads whose life was ended way too early in a tragic plane crash on March 19, 1982 at the height of his career. Guest guitarists included:

Scotti Hill – Skid Row | Mike Orlando – Adrenaline Mob | Phil Demmel – Machine Head | Michael Angelo Batio – Nitro | Marcelo Barbosa – Angra | Ira Black – Westfield Massacre | Nick Bowcott – former Grim Reaper | Ritchie Faulkner – Judas Priest | Bill Hudson – Trans Siberian Orchestra | Marzi Montezeri – former Phil Anselmo Band | Rowan Robertson – DC4/Bang Tango | Janet Robin – former student of Randy Rhoads | Jack Frost – Seven Witches | August Zadra – Dennis DeYoung Band | Doug Aldrich – Dead Daisies

Even Michael Sweet and Oz Fox from Stryper showed up to perform and Chaz West killed it on vocals for a few songs and Deen Castronovo (Journey) took over drums for a few songs to allow the master Brian Tichy to display his guitar skills. Radio Personality Eddie Trunk hosted this epic event now in its fourth year.

The night ended with all guitarists on stage jamming out the beautiful song “Dee” on acoustic guitar then with Neil Turbin singing “Goodbye to Romance”.  Another memorable Randy Rhoads Remembered in the books for 2017 and we all eagerly await the announcement for 2018.
