England’s own Carcass may have been the headliner of the SOLD-OUT “Show Your Scars” show at The Regent in Los Angeles on Saturday January 5, but it was the fans who stole the show—quite literally.
As soon as supporting bands—crossover thrashers Excel, party thrash metal supergroup Iron Reagan and the thrashers formerly known as Cryptic Slaughter now going by Lowlife hit the stage, concert goers did the same. Without a barricade between the stage and fans, people belligerently crawled, stampeded and rolled onto the stage to party with the artists and then faithfully dove back onto the heads of their peers.
Carcass would have none of it, though, and kept the circus in the pit on the ground floor. The extreme metal group opened with the poetic “Genital Grinder” and ripped through thematic songs like “Reek of Putrefaction,” “Buried Dreams,” “Cadaver Pouch Conveyor System,” touched on “Swansong’s” “Black Star” before closing with “Carneous Cacoffiny.”
Carcass heads back to Europe next, performing at Primavera Sound in Spain in May. See below for a photo gallery of the Carcass, Lowlife, Iron Reagan and Excel show in Los Angeles.
